Communication & Letters home
Home School Diary
At Cann Hall, every child has a home school diary which hopes to provide a direct exchange of information and dialogue between home and school. We aim to ensure that parents and carers are fully informed about their child's daily activities and wellbeing as well as providing our children with a voice to enable them to communicate their daily activities at home or school. We believe that all children will learn better if home and school work together in partnership. To achieve this aim we ask parents and carers to support our Home School Agreement (see below).
Parents' Evening
We have two formal parents' evenings each year, one in the autumn term and one in the spring, with an informal open evening at the end of the year to recognise and celebrate children's progress. Parents' evenings are an opportunity to talk about your child, including how they have settled into class and to discuss their learning. Teachers share ways in which your child is learning and making progress through children's books, assessments, photos and discussion.
Annual Reports
Annual reports are prepared at the end of the summer term to give an overview of how each child has progressed during the academic year.
Home School Agreement
At Cann Hall Primary School it is important that families, children and staff, work together to achieve the highest possible levels of success for all children.
By taking up a place at Cann Hall Primary School, the school, the family and the child agree to the following:
Cann Hall school will aim to:
- Encourage children to become enthusiastic and successful learners who love the challenge of learning, make progress and achieve their full potential.
- Develop children to become responsible citizens who make a positive contribution to society.
- Create a values-based learning community.
- Expect high standards of learning and behaviour.
- Care for your child's safety and happiness.
- Encourage your child to respect school property and that of others.
- Inform you about your child's progress through parent meetings and an annual written report.
- Keep you informed about school events and the curriculum through weekly newsletters, our website, Facebook, emails and texts.
The families of Cann Hall will aim to:
- Ensure their child comes to school every day, on time and prepared for learning.
- Ensure their child attends school in term time unless they are ill.
- Ensure the school is notified, each day, when their child is unwell.
- Ensure, where possible, that appointments are made outside of school hours and evidence is supplied, when this is not possible.
- Ensure their child is following the school uniform policy (this includes hairstyles, jewellery and make up).
- Ensure that their child comes to school in the correct PE kit, on their PE days.
- Ensure that their child’s mobile phone is left at home, unless they are walking to and from school alone.
- Ensure that their child will use the Internet safely and responsibly to safeguard themselves and others.
- Collect their child punctually and advise the school if they are going to be late or if there is a change to the collection arrangements.
- Inform the school of any issues which might affect their child's learning or behaviour.
- Encourage good behaviour, politeness, self-respect and respect for others and their property.
- Encourage their child's learning in all areas of life and support them with their home learning.
- Support school values and ways of working.
- Be available to have a meeting with adults in school about any challenges in learning and behaviour.
- Attend parents' meetings and support school activities wherever possible.
The children of Cann Hall will aim to:
- Follow our three rights: The Right to Learn, The Right to Feel and Be Safe and The Right to Respect.
- Show kindness and consideration to all, celebrating our differences.
- Be ready and willing to learn and do my best.
- Listen to others and follow instructions.
- Carry out my daily reading and complete my home learning.
- Speak politely and be honest.
- Come to school on time every day.
- Wear my school uniform.
Together we will aim to:
- Encourage the children to keep the school agreements.
- Support the child's learning to help them achieve their full potential.
- Deal fairly with any concerns and work collaboratively and respectfully to resolve any issues.
We have read and understand the home school agreement.
