Admissions priority Reception to Year 6
There is no guarantee of a place for children living in the priority admission area. In the event of over subscription places will be allocated using the criteria outlined in our admissions policy.
In the event of oversubscription within the criteria as outlined in our policy, priority will be determined by straight line distance from home to school, those living closest being given the highest priority.

Waiting lists
You can check your child’s current position on the waiting list of any Essex primary (Reception) school or year 3 (where held) for September 2025 from 8am on Thursday 8 May 2025. From 1st September every academic year the waiting lists are passed onto schools by Essex County Council so you would need to contact the School to check your position. We hold our waiting list for the duration of the academic year.
We hold waiting lists for each year group, please contact us for more information.
Summer born children 2027 entry
If your child was born during the period 1 April 2022 and 31 August 2022 and you would like them to start school from September 2027 in Reception (instead of starting in the 2026-27 academic year), please contact the School to seek the view of the Head Teacher and whether the Trust can accept your request. Please provide a letter setting out your rationale and if you have any evidence please provide that also (examples could include a letter from the current nursery, a health professional etc.). The School will formally respond to your request within 15 days.
For other schools please contact the relevant admission authorities for them to consider your request.
Once you have the agreements for your preferred schools send them to Essex County Council admissions@essex.gov.uk for a coordinated response, including again your rationale for this request. Please refer to the primary education in Essex booklet
For any Essex Community or VC schools, the Council will decide whether an application for the Reception admission round for September 2027 will be processed. For Foundation VA schools and Academies, the individual schools will make the decision. There are no guarantees that your request to delay your child’s admission until September 2027 will be automatically agreed. You will be notified by Essex County Council whether an application for the schools you named in your request will be processed for Reception in September 2027.
We advise you to make any such request as soon as possible because if your request is not agreed, you will need to make an application for a place for the school year starting in September 2027 – the deadline is 15 January 2026.
Out of cohort requests
Parents may seek a place for their child outside of their age appropriate cohort, for example, if the child has experienced problems such as ill health. All parental requests for admission outside of their age appropriate cohort must be made in writing to the School, with any supporting evidence you may have (evidence isn’t mandatory) from relevant professionals working with the child and family, stating why the child should be placed outside their age appropriate cohort. The admission authority for the preferred school will decide each case on an individual basis and parents will be informed in writing of the decision made and the reasons behind the decision.
